Logiral. A tool to slow down sounds and videos

Logiral is a tool in the form of software for iOS and Android PCs and tablets that makes it possible to slow down the sound and images of a video.

With this article I want to give a boost to the great work done by two researchers from the University of Aix-Marseille and Auticiel. Logiral, acronym of LOGIciel de RALentissement, indeed targets people with Autism. Today, around 1 in 100 children worldwide have autism spectrum disorders.

Studies conducted at the University of Aix-Marseille have shown the existence of difficulties in rapid information processing in children with autism. The Logiral application will make it possible to slow down the information contained in films, so that people have more time to process them.

Logiral offers a clean interface and seamless ergonomics.

Everything here is simple and within everyone's reach. The app shows all the videos it finds in the device in a gallery from which you will be able to view them. The reading interface is simple with talking pictos for ease of use.
Logiral offers no less than 16 speed steps to slow or accelerate a video. The four most commonly used landings are presented under the scroll bar in the form of a snail, a turtle, a man and a hare. These are four shortcuts to once again simplify usage and help the user.

Another menu allows to vary the sound level. For classroom use, the app also locks the full screen.

Finally, it should be noted that Logiral allows not only to watch videos but also to record them. The same ease of use can be found in the use as a recording studio.

Logiral is a software for people with Autism but …not that.

Originally designed for children and adults with autism, Logiral can also find many other uses in school or training. The most obvious being to watch videos in foreign languages or help transcribe a course or conference.

Logiral is free. Anyone who has worked or helped with its design and realization deserves a hat-trick.
