Timelinely<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0is an online tool foradd comments to a video before sharing it<\/span>.<\/strong> Rather practical to explain, comment on or underline the importance of a particular passage from a video to your students.

\nTimelinely does not, at least for the time being, aim to compete with much more comprehensive tools for creating interactive videos such as: HiHaHO that I presented to you here<\/a> A few days ago. Enrichment options here are more limited, but still attractive for simple needs.<\/p>\n

There are no particular problems with use and handling.<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0Simply log in after creating a free account and enter the URL of a video on YouTube. TimelineLy will retrieve the video and open an editor that will allow you to view the video and insert comments. This is simply done. Underneath the video you have a kind of timeline that looks like the one found in video editing software.<\/p>\n

Click anywhere in this timeline to insert your comment. You can insert text, a URL, an image or an animated GIF<\/strong>.<\/span>\u00a0Simple, but enough to bring your grain of salt and added value to a video before sharing it.<\/p>\n

\nYou can add as many points as you want. Your comment will be displayed on the side of the video when viewing at the time you set it. Note that when you insert a point you can at the same time set the time during which your comment will appear on the screen. All you have to do is widen the mouse-tip in the timeline of the video.<\/p>\n

Once your video is finished, all you have to do is share it<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span>TimelineLy does not yet offer a code to insert it directly into a website or blog. That is a pity. For the moment you will be limited to sharing by email or on social networks through a unique URL.<\/p>\n

By clicking on it the player has access to your video under which appear the additions you have made. It is also possible for the viewer, while watching the video, to move from one insertion point to another. TimelineLy has planned to allow the reader to add a comment behind each insertion point.<\/p>\n

The tool works online on any browser. It also works well and even particularly well on a tablet or smartphone.<\/p>\n

TimelineLy has some flaws, but nothing prohibitive<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0and we will wait for the next updates to make a final opinion. In the meantime, you can always test the solution. TimelineLy is currently completely free.<\/p>\n
