If there is one area in which the contribution of the Internet is indisputable, it is that of access to art and culture. The world\u2019s largest institutions allow access to their works online through Museum sites<\/a> Mostly remarkable. A new online resource has just appeared. We owe it to the Ministry of Culture. This is Pop<\/strong>, a new open platform that will allow you to consult the historical bases of the Ministry of Culture.<\/p>\n

\"Historical<\/p>\n

A new search engine giving access to several databases<\/h2>\n

Pop means open platform of heritage.<\/strong> It brings together and makes accessible several historical databases. A gigantic Ali Baba cave with nearly 3.5 million records verified and documented by the Ministry of Culture and its partners. In its virtual shelving you will access:<\/p>\n

\u2022 the collections of the museums of France (Joconde database);
\n<\/span>\u2022 architectural heritage, protected and unprotected (M\u00e9rim\u00e9e base);
\u2022 movable, protected and unprotected assets (Palissy base);
\u2022 photographic holdings received, preserved and\/or constituted by the Ministry (base Memoir)
\u2022 works removed from temporary storage in museums (MRN database);<\/p>\n

The Memory photographic database alone retains more than one million photographs. These bases will continue to be enriched and developed.<\/p>\n

A beta version but already very promising<\/h2>\n

Pop was launched this summer, it is in the experimental phase. However, it is already fully operational and has some nice surprises in store for a search. Pop comes in the form of a classic search engine with a field to specify your query.<\/p>\n

The platform also offers thematic entries on its homepage<\/strong> welcome not to stray into the maze of this immense galerie. Photos, painting and drawing, fashion, trips \u2026to you choose. We would love a further editorial enhancement of the wealth contained in these different bases.<\/p>\n

\"Notices\"<\/p>\n

Each work has a complete sheet. A notice detailing the history and current situation of the work.<\/p>\n

Pop is for everyone, curious, students or researchers. A real happiness.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Access to POP is free of charge and the site is not cluttered with any type of advertising.<\/p>\n
