Last updated on February 24, 2025

WordArt is an online tool that allows you to play with words. You'll be able to very simply create word clouds in seconds.

I presented WordArt (formerly Tagul) in an article on online tools to create keyword clouds. This great tool alone deserves a full-fledged article. In my opinion, it is one of the best tools in its category.

WordArt allows the creation of word clouds, but it also offers several very interesting original options to customize your cloud.

Free for non-commercial use, WordArt offers, once registered from the homepage, an impressive amount of settings that will make your word cloud a unique creation. You will be able to import your words by copying and pasting a text or by importing the text contained on a web page. For this second option, it will be sufficient to provide WordArt with the URL address. When importing, you will be able to automatically remove the numbers or link words. Practical.

Then you will be able to choose the form in which your words will be entered. WordArt offers you a whole series of classic shapes (hearts, characters, objects, animals, etc.), but you can also upload a personal image. Other possible customizations, the size of the words, the color, the layout or of course the font used.

Function that I find particularly interesting the possibility of make each word interactive by adding URL links. You can then install your clickable cloud on a site or blog and offer online add-ins for each of the words.

WordArt makes it possible to download your creations in a more classic way in multiple formats. Your creations can be public or private. Public they will join all those created by other users of the service and visible from the home page of the site.

An excellent tool for Playing with words a text and visualise its importance.

    Hello,
Tagul is indeed very playful and easy to use with students even if it is all in English (I use it with 6th graders).
While this may be useful for users, I created a small tutorial on easy.ly for my middle school students
, which I would like to share!
