In the other noteworthy new features: the availability of applications for Mac and PC and support for new languages including Chinese and Japanese.

A better online translator than Google translate or Linguee

Deepl does indeed do better than most existing online translation solutions such as Linguee which belongs to the same German company, or Google translate which are among the best known. It is enough to test it on a sentence or on an entire text to realize it. DeepL works at lightning speed thanks to deep learning and a supercomputer of unparalleled power capable of translating a million words in a second.

It offers in its results a much more natural language without breaks and against meaning. This is arguably the best machine translation tool available today. The DeepL team uses this supercomputer to train neural translation networks from a vast collection of multilingual texts. The tool also takes into account texts submitted, translated and corrected by Internet users.

DeepL Translator works and now knows how to translate from 26 languages : French, English, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Russian …, Japanese and Chinese. These last two Asian languages are the most popular. The quality of DeepL's translations for these two new languages is once again remarkable. Providing a service in both languages was a long-standing ambition of the German automatic translator.

The translator’s interface has not changed. It shines by its simplicity. The screen is divided in two. On the left, copy the text you want to translate. To the right, choose the destination language. The translated text is displayed immediately.

The new feature is that Microsoft Word or PowerPoint files can now be uploaded. This will avoid having to hard copy and paste several sections of a document and then recreate the original formatting.

You upload the document and choose the destination language. A few seconds later you can download a new document translated in full and respecting the formatting of the original doc. Magical.

Is there a Deepl app? A translator integrated directly into your Mac or PC operating system

Until now, the very simple use of DeepL was through a website where you had to copy and paste the text you wanted to translate. A simple operation but one that required you to switch from your workspace to DeepL. The designers of the tool have both improved the user experience and expanded the possible everyday uses.

By installing the new application for Mac or PC, you will be able to translate texts in all applications on your computer. The translation tool can be called at any time, without even having to leave the program or application. A translator at your fingertips always available.

The user simply selects the text to be translated and double-tap ⌘C (Mac) or Ctrl+C (Windows). DeepL then displays the translation and its alternatives. One last click and the translation is inserted into the user’s text. Ultra practical.

Strongly agree. I worked and made the students (Italian-speaking academics) work with deepl and they love it. Especially beginners 🙂

  2. Gabi says:

Thank you for your ticket and the honouring of this jewel.
An example of the kind. I use it every day.
To be precise, the first paid version at 5.99eur allows unlimited translation of characters,
and 5 documents up to 10MB. In free version it is limited to 2MB and 4 docs per hour.
The translations from Russian and Portuguese have also been added in recent months.
DeepL translates words in .docx format and Ppts, do not forget that a PDF can easily be transformed into .docx. So a great deal of freedom in translating PDFs by keeping the original format.
    Jewelry like that.

    Thank you.

I am dyslexic and English has always been a disability in my professional life. Since I discovered Deepl through this blog, I have been using it to translate all the technical literature I need daily into my work (I am a data journalist).
Now I no longer have any anxiety about sending an email in English as I trust this software. I naturally write in French on the left and hop a copy/paste from the right and it is sent.
To everyone who is teaching and reading this blog, unpack your dyslexic students. Show their Deepl it will change their lives, they will finally be able to devote themselves to the bottom and not to the form in their research on the web.

    Effectively, excellent tool
some bugs after intensive use in free version
But nothing serious, we stop, we come back

  5. Eline says:

Each of these three online translators offers similar features, but some have some additional features that make communication easier.
More often I use deepl.com utranslated.com and reverso.net if the translation is not reliable.
Try one of them and see which one you think is the best online translator for your needs. 😉
