Socrative is an online tool for interview your students from their digital devices : smartphones, tablets or computers.

The service makes it possible to create quizzes and to collect the answers on-line, in real time. A playful and interactive approach that promotes better student engagement. More than ten years after its launch, Socrative remains one of the benchmarks of the interactive classroom quiz, used today by more than 3 million teachers worldwide.

The system is perfectly suited for sessions of up to 50 participants in a free version. The teacher asks a question in the room, the students choose their answer on their device, and the dashboard immediately displays the results in a simple and clear graph.

The strength of Socrative lies in the ease of implementation. The only imperative, but it is not nothing: have an internet connection. The teacher connects to the service, opens a virtual classroom in less than a minute, and then chooses the type of question: True/false, multiple choices, short answer, etc. Socrative then provides him with a room number that students enter from their device to join the activity.

The teacher always has a view of the number of students connected and their responses. He can comment on the results live and adapt his course to the level of understanding of the class.

In the class

Through its playful form, Socrative promotes a more marked investment of students. Whatever the level, the device makes it possible toFacilitate a session by including interactivity and active participation.

It can also create collaborative work situations: if each student does not have their own device, several participants can share the same tablet or computer and will have to agree on the answer to be given. A good opportunity to bring out exchanges and small arguments between them.

What's new in 2026

Since its acquisition by Showbie, Socrative has continued to evolve. The main novelty in 2026 is the integration of Socrative AI, one Artificial intelligence assistance which makes it possible to:

• generate a quiz based on a simple description of the subject or learning objectives;
• transform an existing quiz, for example a Word or Excel document, into a Socrative activity;
• offer automatic explanations to the pupil at the time of submission of the reply.

The Scoreboard also offers finer reports and customizable exports to communicate progress to students, families or school management.

Free or paid: what to choose?

Socrative offers a free version that is largely sufficient to start in class, with up to 5 quizzes recorded, a room, 50 students per activity, automatic correction and basic access to AI. To go further, there are three paid offers: Essentials (unlimited quiz, 5 rooms, reports kept for 90 days, enhanced AI), Pro (up to 30 rooms, 300 students per activity, integrated videos, unlimited reports, full access to AI) and Organization (formula on quote for schools).

A good interactive quiz tool

More than ten years after my first discovery of Socrative, the finding remains the same: it is an excellent interactive quiz tool in real time, simple, reliable and perfectly adapted to the context of the class.

The additions of 2026, generative AI for quizzes and finer reports, make it an even more effective companion for formative evaluation, without distorting what was its strength at the outset. Provided that we remain attentive to what is entrusted to the student data-side service.
