World Wonders Project is still a beautiful achievement of the global search giant, Google.

A true showcase of its know-how and power, the site is a portal that offers Dozens of virtual tours using homemade "street view" technology. Whether you are a student or a teacher, you will now be able to discover in a virtual way some of the most famous sites in the world.

Street View is a feature of Google Maps that allows you to move around the streets in 360°, as if you were there. Here you will be able to do the same, but by moving in or around sites like the Grand Canyon in the United States, Scott’s cabin in the middle of Antarctica, the coral reef or the ruins of Pompeii.

The immersion power of Street View technology is truly impressive. You will move in virtual tours with the end of the mouse.

The World Wonders Project website is also flawless. You can choose your destination by drop-down menus. The visits are classified either by continents then by country or by themes. Another elegant way to choose your destination is the world map. Google offers you a beautiful 3D animation of our old planet with pins that will allow you to choose the place you want to visit.

Each location is accompanied to the right of the screen by a complete factsheet. You will also find there a gallery of photos and videos that enrich the multimedia experience.

In the classroom.

This resource made available free of charge and without advertising by Google is a real mine to create activities with your students. Google has also opened up specific access to the world of education here, which makes it possible to download teaching materials for the classroom. The factsheets in French are not very numerous, but they are all of high quality. A good online resource to teach history or geography.
