Vibby is a great online tool that allows to select passages in a video to be able to share them and possibly comment on them online.
Vibby is very simple to use, it will act as a highlighter for your videos. In other words, it will allow you to highlight one or more excerpts from a video on YouTube. You can then share the video with one or more people via a single URL.
People who click on the link will be able to view and view either only the clips you have selected or the entire video. In use it is ultra practical. A solution to indicate to your students for example the interesting passage in a long video.
All the more convenient because Vibby also allows you to add a comment to your selection. This could be a question, for example. Spectators will be able to respond and comment in turn. You will be notified by email of any new comments. Vibby can also be used in collaborative work. I had dedicated it to him. an article recently on Collaborative Tools.
The use I told you is very simple. After a quick registration on the site, you will be able to create your first "Vibby". To do so, it is sufficient to indicate the URL address of the video on YouTube. (For the moment Vibby only works with Google’s platform). Vibby will retrieve the video and you will be able to play it. You only have to click once to insert the beginning of the passage you want to highlight and a second to indicate the end of the extract. You are also invited to insert a comment.
You can create as many excerpts as you want from a video. Once satisfied with the result, you get a unique URL that you will be able to share by email or on social networks. By clicking on it, the player will have the choice between two options, either to see only the clips you have selected or to see the video in its entirety. Whatever their first choice, they will then always be able to switch from one to the other. Arriving on an excerpt, he will be able to see your comments, those of others and comment in turn.
Each video created may be public or private. In the first case it will join a directory that presents on the site all the videos created by Vibby users.
Vibby is a tool still in development, but quite promising. To be tested.
