Casio presented its new school calculators for next school year. Minoru Takahashi, the boss of Casio France, had made the trip for the occasion. It is true that the stakes are high for the Japanese manufacturer. Indeed, he reigns supreme on the French calculator market.
In Casio's suitcases for this back to school a brand new FX92 Special College calculator. He also presented an impressive calculator with advanced mathematical functions. FX-CP 400+E for high school students and students. I will have the opportunity to come back soon.

But let’s stop at the timeless FX-92 special college. It is the absolute best-seller of the mark. Complete, solid, and cheap, the special college is one of the almost mythical objects of a few generations of college students. It occupies 75 % market share in France and the new version could still help it to consolidate this position.
The new version of this reference calculator will not displace users. It features a high-resolution LCD display that can display up to 5 lines. It will not weigh the satchels with a weight of 100 g. Its increvable battery powered by a single small battery is inexhaustible.
In terms of calculations and functions, the main thing is that:

But the real novelty of this brand new version of the calculator is the ability to create QR Codes from the calculations and display them on the screen.
A feature that will interest math teachers who go through their smartphone or tablet power Scan these different QR Codes using the dedicated Casio EDU+ application
It's a really good idea. In the classroom and from an exercise performed on their calculator, your students will be able to create a QR Code. The teacher will scan it with the Casio EDU+ application and retrieve all the results to display and comment on them with the whole class and save them for future use. A more interesting idea than a simple online calculator.
What to introduce a good dose of interactivity in its courses and bring many additional functions not available on the calculator itself.
For testing it, it all works very well. Only small caveat: sometimes you have to do it twice before you can successfully scan the QR code with your tablet. Another foreseeable difficulty in the coming school year is that not all of your students will have the new version of the Casio Special College. If this new function is to be used, they will have to work in groups.
The Casio FX-92 special college calculator is sold for around €20. It is guaranteed 3 years. The Casio EDU+ app is free and available for iOS and Android.
