Vidyard GoVideo is an application that takes the form of a Chrome browser extension that will allow you to create educational videos from your computer screen very easily.
GoVideo makes it easy to create small videos from your computer. You can save your browser window or the entire screen. This is done with one click once the extension is installed.
Formerly called ViewedIt, Vidyard Go Video is a simple and free answer to offer your students an on-screen manipulation or a commented visit to a website for example. The use is very simple and does not require any special technical knowledge. You install the extension on your browser. An icon appears on the menu bar. You are ready to make your first video.
When you click on the app icon, you have a window that opens and gives you the choice of either saving your browser window or saving the entire computer screen. If you wish, you can open the microphone to record your voice and/or pick up your reel with the webcam so that it can be embedded in a medallion at the bottom of the image.
Vidyard GoVideo also allows as another possible option to create a full screen video only with your face. Each video recording can last up to one hour. Largely sufficient for most uses. Be careful not to mount possible, the platform favors simplicity and flexibility. One click to start recording, a second click to stop it and your video is ready to be shared.
You can share it very easily via a link provided by email or on social networks. If you use Gmail, the extension installs a small button in the email client to still easily insert videos created with Vidyard into the body of the email.
You can also share your creations directly from a platform like YouTube. However, it is not possible to download them directly to your computer. (There's nothing stopping you from doing it from YouTube using a small extension)
Last interesting feature of Vidyard, you will be notified when your videos are viewed. The platform offers a notification system that identifies and maintains the viewing history of your videos.
