The Clemi has just published an online press review of school and high school newspapers. A special press review Charlie.
The reading committee that selects the articles was spoilt for choice in theavalanche of special issues following the attacks on Charlie's editorial staff and freedom of the press. 79 school newspaper titles, 132 college titles and 86 high school titles produced between January and April 2015 were read. The final press review offers 30 pages and a selection of excerpts from articles and drawings from 74 newspapers.
Highly recommended reading. The result is exciting. Really exciting.
After the emotion and the tribute to the victims, the aspiring journalists of this school press who would really benefit from being better known faced the substantive debates raised by the events of January. Freedom of expression, Islamophobia, weakness of course, being or not being Charlie … It is not nothing, it is the fundamentals of the Republic and of our democracy.
Alone in high school or with their teachers in college, the young people wondered about the indelible scope of the attacks. Far from the clichés that we have seen in many media, particularly audiovisual media, which have made generalities of incidents noted here and there, young people show a maturity that forces respect. They faced all the questions, even the most difficult ones. I suggest that the Clemi send this press review ex officio to all the editorial offices in France and Navarre. I advise my colleagues to take the time to go through it.
As written Divina Frau-Meigs the Director of CLEMI in the editorial ‘This special press review Charlie testifies to a capacity for reflection and questioning, a capacity for adversarial debate and even controversy, which can only reassure us’

If there were any doubts, this press review is a vivid proof of the interest of this school press, which must be encouraged by giving it the means to be born, to live and to last. The Clemi under the leadership of Pascal Famery Create an official educational repository for newspapers produced by students in their schools. Great idea.
