Padlet. A virtual whiteboard for the class.

Last updated on 3 September 2024

Padlet is an online CTBT tool that allows you to create and share a message wall, a virtual whiteboard with your students.

Padlet, so far known as Wallweisher, is already very popular across the Atlantic and in Canada. It wins to be known elsewhere. What is it? Padlet's promise is in one sentence on the front page of the site. We offer you a blank page, a wall you hang on it what you want where you want. Simple and powerful.

And it is true that in use we are surprised by the simplicity of use that makes it accessible to the youngest and the quality of the rendering. Padlet offers you a personal white wall with a unique URL on which you will be able to deposit notes, links, images, sounds, videos, Word or Excel files, PDF … the list is long. You drag and drop your file onto the wall, it is automatically uploaded. You can then give it a title and a comment. You can also resize the note and place it wherever you want on the wall.

Wall of messages

Each wall can contain as many notes as you want and has a unique URL that you will be able to share by email or on social networks. By registering on the site, you will also be able to manage the permissions given to users and visitors to your wall. You will be able to decide to allow only the consultation of the wall without allowing any modification. But you can also and of course this is the most interesting allow a group of students to collectively enrich a picture.

In the classroom.

Padlet is a tool that simply introduces students to online collaborative work. You can ask a group of students to do documentary research and collect the results on a Padlet. It can also be used by students to ask questions, have answers or feedback on a job.

Padlet in any case will not ask you no handling or installation problems. A mature tool, it is simple, intuitive and completely free.

    Hello,
perhaps the name Virtual whiteboard is not well chosen, it is rather a collaborative billboard, and certainly it is very interesting for group work, thank you for the find.

  2. We are looking for a virtual board to deliver fashion and modeling courses on the site belonging to us (INTERMOODE.COM ) in the process of redesign (the FLASH mode) which was intended for it
is insufficient for any continuation with this model.
The whole curriculum of this course is at our disposal and we have retransmitted it in us
    serving the software "INKSCAPE" that suits us perfectly;
in the event that you could provide us with your help (Idem, that the WEBMASTER ) competition
Thank you in advance and see you soon.

    Hello Fidel,

I fall (lately!) on your post about PADLET. Thank you: efficient, simple, convenient!
One question, however: can we protect ourselves from silly or gravelly reflections that students might (sic!) want to share with the entire amphi?
I fear not, but if you have an idea, I would be grateful if you could let me know!

    Thank you for your attention,

    Franck

    Hello,
Just one thing: Padlet is now only free for three paintings; beyond that, it pays off.
Thank you for all your finds
