Last updated on 14 January 2019

Update January 2018 – Stelum seems to have joined the application cemetery. Too bad

Stelum is a new platform that makes it possible to create online fact sheets very easily to explain a fact, an idea, a concept as simply as possible. A kind of collaborative encyclopedia made available to all.

Stelum

Stelum offers an online tool with which to create sheets very easily. A fact sheet is not a long article, the aim here is to get to the point and simply explain an idea or concept. As the creators of the platform state in their website:  Sometimes less is more.

On Stelum you will therefore be able to create ‘Simplexes’, which is the name given to the sheets. on the platform. To do this you have at your disposal a kind of online word processing with which you will be able to write a sheet. You start by giving it a title and a caption and then you write your text in which you can drag one or more photos, schematics, illustrations.

The length of the text is limited. Not more than 300 words. Suffice it to say that you have to know how to get to the bottom of everything. Once you have completed your form, all you have to do is classify it in a category (science, history, technology, etc.) and publish it with a click.

You can publish as many as you want. All sheets are public by default and other users will be able to comment and "like" your sheets. They will be able to track your profile and posts and of course you will be able to do the same.

Stelum offers on its homepage a selection of the best Simplexes and above all a search engine to find a card in this haystack of knowledge.

In addition to the generous idea of making as much knowledge as possible available to everyone, Stelum is a good educational tool to put in all hands. It requires to build simple and concise explanations to put in sheet a theme, an idea, a concept. Not as simple as it sounds. You will be able to offer memo sheets to your students or even better to ask them to create them for their presentations.

Stelum is completely free. For the moment, there is mainly content in English, it is up to you to enrich it with sheets in French.
