3 tools to automatically summarize long texts

Last updated on 12 May 2026

Artificial intelligence continues to make progress. This is true in many areas and is the case in text analysis. How to identify the most important ideas and theses in a text? How do you get to the point when you need to analyse a long text? There are now automatic tools that will retrieve the main information contained in any text. The result is not always perfect at 100%, but each time it saves a lot of time for a first synthesis.

See three examples among many others. Three tools that will automatically summarise any text in seconds.

Resoomer. Summarize a text in one click

resoomer

This is undoubtedly my favourite in this short list. Resoomer makes it possible to go to the essentials in your texts. By simply copy and paste, Resoomer offers you a synthesis of the text in a single click. He has the advantage of being born in France even though he works on texts in both French and English. Amazing tool that I advise you to try to get a summary fast text. If the original text is somewhat structured, you will be surprised at the result. Ressomer offers a web interface, you can also install a very convenient plug-in directly in your browser.

Summary Box. Get a text summary of an article on the web

make a summary

A much more recent tool, Summary Box also makes it possible to obtain a summary or summary of a text found on the web in one click. Summary Box only works on the web. Once a small extension is installed on your usual browser, it is ready to work. When you are on a long web article, a click on the extension icon and a pane will immediately open to the right of your browser window with an automatic summary of the text in question. Not all articles on the web lend themselves to this automatic synthesis, but when it does, it works rather well. Summary Box allows you to quickly enter a long text before embarking on a much more detailed reading.

SummarizeThis. Another free text summarizer

Summarizer

Another tool that has specialised in creating automatic summaries from any text. Here the instructions for use are reduced to the minimum necessary, i.e. almost nothing. The site offers a window in which you must paste the text you want to summarize. A click later, the summary is displayed above the original text. Simple and without frills. SummarizeThis is free.
