The press review of school and high school newspapers 2015

Last updated on 21 February 2025

How can we end this terrible year of 2015 with a little hope? Perhaps by reading the now traditional Press Review of school and high school newspapers that has just been published by CLEMI.

Clemi

CLEMI started some time ago to set up an educational repository for school newspapers and media. An excellent initiative for identifying and archiving a bubbling form of youth expression. While the Ministry of Education has just launched a major media and information literacy plan, with the aim of creating a media outlet in each high school and college, the annual press review just published by the Clemi shows the value of this.

This press review of school and high school newspapers 2015 is available in paper and digital and offers three editions. One for high schools, another for colleges and a third for schools. The overall selection was based on 208 school newspapers, 330 titles in secondary schools and 251 titles in secondary schools.

The result is exciting. Excerpts from newspapers, photos, articles, links to blogs, sites, webradios and even webtv, this annual press review shows the richness of these media not quite like the others and the talent of these hundreds of budding journalists.

All topics are covered and we can see from the pages of this precious press review that 2015 has been such a tough year for young people. Attacks, Violence, Freedom of Expression, Secularism, Refugees, Ecology … Many serious topics on which young people have expressed themselves in a blunt and candid manner. Their word is full of hope. Journalists in these school media speak and write with their hearts. Many politicians and editorialists in the ‘big’ press would do well to draw inspiration from it. The kids put into words despite the difficult times the notions of freedom, fraternity, solidarity …

International news, social topics, culture, life in high school or middle school, serious topics and others that are less serious, I went through this press review not quite like the others with real pleasure. The illustrations, often humorous drawings, were well chosen. The authors of this press review have also slipped many multimedia add-ons with links and QR codes to access the original media in their entirety via the web.

End 2015 with the expression of young sources of hope. Thanks to CLEMI for this press review.
I take this excerpt from Bud INFO, the newspaper of the Pierre-Budin school in the 10th arrondissement of Paris.  It is the CP minots who speak out and send a message to the ‘Future Terrorists’.

“You have to understand that in France we have the right to laugh at everything. Making jokes is not a big deal. Making fun of it doesn’t matter … You future terrorists, put down your weapons and bombs. Life is too good to ruin. Don't kill, come laugh with us.
