If you ever wondered what was under your feet On the other side of the planet, exactly where you are, this small site is for you.
Antipodes Map will allow you to play with maps, geography and your childhood dreams. Antipodes Map helps you find on a map the exact antipode of where you are on the globe.
The word ‘antipodes’ comes from the Latin ‘antipodus’, which means ‘whose feet are located opposite’. This little unpretentious site is tVery easy to use and can be offered to all aspiring Jules Verne from 7 to 77 years old. Two cards appear on the screen. These are Google maps in which you will be able to move and zoom with the end of the mouse.
On the one on the left, you will be able to place a small pin on the spot whose exact antipode you want to discover. A funny little character-shaped pin that ostrich-shaped pushes its head into the ground or into the map to appear in the right-hand map on the other side of the globe.
You can also more traditionally write in a kind of search engine a country, city or postal code to see the result on the maps.
For the more knowledgeable, you can also play with the exact geographical coordinates of a point on a latitude and longitude map.
Antipodes Map also offers a small focus on the exact antipode of some major cities around the world. For example Madrid at the opposite of Weber in New Zealand. I did the test from where I was writing this article and fell into the water of the Pacific Ocean. The seas still cover a large part of our small land. Have fun.
