Travelscope. A world with more and more borders

Last updated on 3 August 2024

Travelscope is an interactive map that allows you to visualize the countries to which you can go freely and those where you will need a visa.

Travelscope

A beautifully realized cartography from data found on Wikipedia which mainly allows to see the differences from one country to another, from one contains to another.

Travelscope is very easy to use and understand. Simply click on any point on the globe. As soon as you see animated links to most countries appear. The color of these changes depending on whether or not you need a visa or an e-passport. There are several possibilities. Visa not required, Visa on arrival, Electronic authorisation and sometimes even forbidden access.

A great tool to visualize a planet where countries are increasingly cloistered behind their borders.

Travelscope has the merit of leaving everyone the possibility to experiment with travel opportunities from any country. If you are French, you will be able to travel freely in 150 countries. France is in third place behind Singapore and Japan. On the other hand, if you are Somali or Afghan, unsurprisingly, you will only be able to travel to about twenty countries.

This is, of course, a well-known reality. Travelscope simply allows you to visualize it and make it more real.
