Scribe is a completely great free and free tool that allows to transcribe into text the content of any audio or video file.

Receive directly the transcription of your audio or video files by email

The use of Scribe is indeed simple. On the homepage of the site, you are asked to send your audio file to get the transcript. For the video, you can fill in the URL of the video if it is on Youtube, Vimeo or Peertube, on free service offered by Framasoft's friends.

For files of no concern, the most common formats are accepted.

Enter the language of the audio, then give an email address and send.

Depending on the length of your audio, Scribe will take more or less time to send you the transcript of your file. But the tool works fast and well. All you have to do is watch for the e-mail to arrive.

A free transcript, but not only

Scribe will actually send you a zip file that you will have to unzip. There are three files inside.

The firstier contains the full text. The second contains the timing of each sentence to find it easily in the sound. The third allows you to create subtitles in videos.
