ArcheOdyssey. An exciting journey in archaeology

Archaeodyssey is a site that offers you an exciting journey into the past through hundreds of resources dedicated to archaeology. At the helm of the boat are two young people passionate about excavations, discoveries and ancient civilizations.

They created a great tool to share their passion with all budding archaeologists aged 7 to 77. Their site is full of resources and many of them are usable with your students. Come aboard ArcheOdysée, I suggest you explore what's on board.

An interactive map of more than 800 museums and archaeological sites in France

This part of the ArcheOdyssey site alone is well worth a visit. It is an interactive map of France of more than 800 places, sites and museums to see or visit. The creators of the site called it the time machine. You can move and zoom at the end of your mouse. By clicking on one of the points, you have access to a site identity card, usually accompanied by a photo and a link.

You will find the most famous sites but also many places that you probably do not know even if they are not very far from home. ArchéOdyssée had indeed the good idea to start identifying the places that gave rise to excavations but which have now disappeared. That's great.

The journey continues with quite spectacular virtual tours of major world sites. The Acropolis, Machu Picchu, Egypt … or Chauvet Cave.  Archaeodyssey offers you a tour of the virtual planet. More than 200 archaeological sites and museums around the world. On the agenda of 360° panoramas or immersive virtual tours.

Here again you can access the resources via an interactive map. You also have access to listing or the sites are classified by country. Each site benefits from a presentation text highlighting the archaeological interest of the site.

You will also find around 20 videos made by the young authors of the site that allow you to discover a place or answer questions such as: What is a sesterce? What is parietal art? What is a basilica? or a dolmen what is …

You can even ask the site to show you a random dinosaur. You will also see where exactly in the world the fossils for each species were discovered during archaeological excavations. […]
