Update – January 2017 – Dipity no longer seems to exist.
Dipity is an online tool that allows to easily create multimedia friezes of time.
Dipity is a service that looks pretty much like MyHistro that we talked about here a few days ago. Dipity offers the possibility of inserting text, images, videos, links and any type of multimedia material into a frieze of time. Integration is very simple and creating an online timeline on a theme or event is a matter of minutes.
One of the strengths of the Dipity solution is thedeep integration of sharing functions. Mail and social media are at the party to share one or more elements of a frieze or the entire frieze. Each creation can also be public or private. The Dipity website also offers a gallery containing hundreds of user-generated timelines. Your multimedia frieze can also be integrated on a website or blog.
Dipity’s other strength is sare creative functions in collaborative mode. This is a real plus. You can create a frieze or multimedia timeline in a group.
Last but not least, it is not anecdotal. Dipity works on your computer but also on the iPad tablet. The service is free of charge.
In the classroom.
Dipity is a tice tool that seems well suited to working alone or in a group. As a curation tool for personal work at home, it offers a valuable multimedia rendering for the student. The ranking of information found on the web or on social networks on a chronological frieze allows a better understanding of an event history, for example. It is no coincidence that many journalists use Dipity to revisit a complex news event and tell it as clearly as possible.
Dipity is free for basic uses, you can test it here on the web.

I feel like Dipity’s server is rowing a lot and, for that reason, maybe I will explore the other tools. I was also told about TimeToast.
Dipty no longer exists 🙁
