News in Levels is an online CTBT tool that offers you practice and enrich your English vocabulary with a simple and original method that respects your language level.
News in levels is a nice and unpretentious little site that offers a real way to enrich your English vocabulary online.
We talked here from Duolingo It offers students the opportunity to learn English by translating content from the web. A good idea, but perhaps a bit difficult for students with an insufficient level of English. News in Levels is also based on online content, but allows for a differentiated reading according to the level of the learner.
News in Levels therefore presents itself as a news site. Fun little articles, most of the time, offered in three levels of difficulty. Beginners will naturally use Level 1 which uses limited vocabulary and includes a glossary at the end of the article to help readers understand a difficult word in its context. The same words will be used regularly in the proposed new articles to allow the learner to gradually integrate them and thus be able to change levels and move on to the next level.
It works rather well and the creators of the site are committed to teaching you more than 5000 words if you use the site for a year at a rate of ten minutes per day. Note that the site enriches many articles with YouTube videos or sounds that make it possible to hear the reading of the article.
The site offers to start an online English test to detect your level. There is no need to register to use News in Levels and the service is completely free of charge.
In the classroom.
News in Levels makes it possible to offer a fun and simple activity to students as part of an English course. There are many possible uses, for example to prepare a lesson for the class from the vocabulary present in one of the articles. News In levels also offers a specific section dedicated to teachers.
