Inrap. An essential resource on archaeology

Last updated on 12 May 2026

The INRAP website, the National Institute for Preventive Archaeological Research, is a formidable wealth of information for everything related to archaeology.

I came across it by chance, I just spent several hours there. This portal dedicated to the work carried out by scientists and researchers from Inrap and beyond to the science of archaeology is a real success story.

You will find countless resources for your classes and presentations if you are a teacher. The great success of the portal is also to talk to all audiences. From the college student to the university researcher, everyone will find their happiness in a good search. Still we won’t need much excavation of 😉 The INRAP website is a model of clarity with a modern interface that can be erased to give full space to the content presented.

Videos, multimedia animations, 3D reconstructions, chronological friezes, webdocumentaries, the INRAP seems to have done  real editing work to retain only the most interesting resources. You will find an exciting portfolio on theequipment due to soldiers of the Great War.

Unable to cite all available multimedia documents here. I invite you to get lost in the resources section where everything is well classified and labeled to allow you to easily find yourself there.

The Inrap website also offers access to an Iconothèque with a particularly fast search engine that will allow you to find images and videos from a query. The Inrap website is a brilliant answer to all those who, out of ignorance or stupidity, wonder what archaeology is for or who try to save money in the face of the urgent need for memory and knowledge.

In the end a beautiful discovery that I urge you to rank in your favorites in the Knowledge and Discoveries section. The Inrap site has its place here.
