Mathador. A game to take maths by the horns

Mathador is a national competition organized by the Canopé network that will Enable your class and students to have fun with mental calculus and … to make progress in math.

This diabolical game developed by Eric Trouillot, a teacher at the Besançon Academy, has come a long way since its creation more than a decade ago. The game that has false airs of the "Account is good" will seriously to stir up the participants' brains. The principle is quite simple to understand, it is enough to play once to integrate the rules.

Mathador Competition

Mathador offers the player to reach a target figure from another 5 digits. Example arrive at 18 with 3 4 6 12 and 1 and using the operations addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. You earn more or less points depending on the operation used and if you manage to use the 4 operations you get a jackpot. Everything happens in a limited time.

That way it doesn’t look like anything, but don’t rely on appearances. The competition organised by Canopé at national level will offer from 14 March to 3 June a 3-minute test each Monday. The class will have four days to respond. Four categories are open per level: CE2 – CM2, CM2, 6th – 5th, 4th, 3rd and SEGPA, EREA. A ranking of participants will be displayed every week and the difficulty will increase. To your brains, ready, go! Registration started on Monday.

To train, you will find on the training sheets website. You can also play online alone or with others with Mathador Chrono. This game made in flash is a good fun resource to advise even out of competition.

Mathador Box

Mathador is not only a national competition, it is also a multi-platform and multi-support math game. It is available in real physical game boxes, in an online application, but also recently in the form of an app for tablets and mobiles. (For iOS for now, the Android version is expected to follow shortly).

A project that could also come soon in the form of a subscription designed for the class and use throughout the year. To be followed, then.
