GoSoapBox is an online service that allows involve your students during a conference or class through their computers, tablets or smartphones.
The GoSoapBox service has already existed for several years. The recipe has not changed much since the beginning. The tool offers you:Facilitate your courses with questions, surveys that participants answer directly through their computers, tablets or smartphones, provided they have an internet connection.
A classic but effective way to increase learner participation and engagement. GoSoapBox is quite simple to use. Only possible concern in the handling, the interface in English. We would love a French translation, but it doesn't seem to be planned.
Once registered on GoSoapBox, you will be prompted to create an "event". You need to create one for each course where you want to use GoSoapBox. The tool will provide you with a unique code to then communicate to the participants. Each ‘event’ may contain several types of interactions with your auditors. Prepare them in advance, you will then activate them during the course when you decide. You can create quizzes, surveys, open questions or even start an open discussion.
More original you will be able to activate some kind of thermometer of understanding from your audience. They will have two buttons at their disposal at all times. A green button to say: I am, I understand, everything is fine and a red button to indicate on the contrary: I am dropped, lost, I no longer understand … The teacher will see him on his dashboard the two indicators constantly telling him if a majority is following or if he has lost learners on the way.
On the learner side, GoSoapBox is even simpler to use. Registration is done via the code provided by the teacher. No need to register or provide an email. Once the code is entered, the platform will ask to identify itself with a surname or first name and the trick is played.
Once logged in, questions, surveys or quizzes will appear on the screen when the teacher triggers them on their computer. They will remain visible until the teacher decides to remove them in the same way. Learners also have both green and red buttons available to indicate their level of understanding in real time.
All this works fast and well. GoSoapBox saves all responses. You will then be able to download them in excel format but no immediate synthesis is possible. On the other hand, the results on the spreadsheet will allow the teacher to check the correct and wrong answers given by each participant. Practical.
Last point, but it has its importance. GoSoapBox is completely free for classes up to 30 participants. Beyond that, it will be necessary to switch to a paid subscription.
