Louis' Shoes. Awesome animated film about autism

Last updated on 12 May 2026

The Shoes of Louis is a favorite. This is a very nice animated film that deals with the problem of autism in school. This 3D animated short film is great in more ways than one. It offers a child-like approach to the perception of an autistic child on their first day in a new school. Nice, sensitive, moving, a short film about autism that deserves to be known and widely disseminated.

An animated short film on autism for all audiences

Louis, an autistic child of 8 and a half years old arrives at his new school and will have to present himself in front of the class. This is the starting point for this five-minute animated film on autism. A delicate moment for all children that takes here a very special dimension for little Louis. In the film, Louis will share in the first person of the singular his very particular perception of the world around him and his singular landmarks that revolve around …ses blue shoes.

Louis shoes

The film has the effect of encouraging you to slip into these little shoes. To see the world as some autistic children see it. Putting yourself in someone else’s shoes is a must to understand others. Les Chaussures de Louis is a short film about autism that seeks to do just that, telling its story through the eyes of a young autistic boy in the hope of raising awareness and reaching audiences.

“At the time, I didn’t know I was autistic yet. But being different from others is no more bizarre than wanting to fit into a mold.” Louis.

Disconcerted by the ritual of the hand sign to say hello and having an aversion to eye contact, will his classmates accept Louis for what he is? Or will they run away from him and his blue shoes size 33? I let you discover it by watching the film in its entirety at the end of this article.

Real documentary and artistic work to raise awareness about autism

Louis’s Shoes is a short animated film about autism directed by four students MoPA School, Kayu Leung, Marion Philippe, Théo Jamin and Jean-Géraud Blanc. Congratulations to all four for this great work. A remarkable work with an animated film of great plastic beauty and a neat narrative that required a real investigation to bring their main character to life.

The authors thus took the time to investigate, listen to and collect the daily testimonies and experiences of autistic people. A dive into real life before switching to this fiction about autism, which has documentary value.

This animated film on autism was selected at more than 60 festivals internationally and has garnered numerous awards. That is deserved.
It is also an excellent pedagogical tool for understanding certain types of autism and looking at other little Louis.
