BirdTab. Bring nature into your computer

If like me you spend too much time behind screens, and you miss nature, you will love Birdtab.

I just opened my 17th tab of the day. But this time, instead of an impersonal blank page, a brightly coloured fisherman greets me with his crystalline song. For three seconds, I'm somewhere else. This is the magic of BirdTab.

I love this little extension for the Chrome browser. Once installed, Each time you open a new tab, you will see a new bird species.

The photograph displayed is not just a stock image, but a striking snapshot capturing the bird in all its natural splendour. Each photo is accompanied by a fact sheet which, although in English (a perfectible point), teaches you, for example, that the robin you admire can recognise up to 100 different melodies.

The real treasure is hidden behind a simple audio button : One click, and your sterile desk fills the authentic trill with a wild bird. Yesterday, the fluted singing of a musical thrush turned my tedious programming session into an almost bucolic moment.

A moment of calm in the digital hubbub

In a world of constant notifications and endless scrolling, BirdTab offers a sanctuary. Each new tab becomes a conscious pause, an opportunity to breathe and a moment to blow and reconnect even for a few seconds with nature.

After a few days of use, I noticed a subtle change: I sometimes open a new tab with no specific purpose, just to find out which bird will appear. These micro breaks have an amazing effect on my concentration.
