New technologies have revolutionized the way we communicate : e-mail has replaced the postal letter, just as the various variants of instant messaging and search engines have become our new encyclopedias.
At the same time, many classrooms still look like they did years ago: a teacher communicating his knowledge to his students, at the same pace and with the same format for everyone.
Today, technology makes it possible to go further. With the right tools, it makes it possible, in particular, to switch from a uniform system to an individualised, differentiated, pupil-centred education that adapts to the needs of the pupil and where the teacher is more than a knowledgeable person but also a guide for the pupil.

At Google, to foster this new model of education, we provide technologies and tools that adapt to the changing needs of teachers and students of all ages and levels.
“Technology alone will not improve education, but it can play a major role in future progress” – Sundar Pichai, CEO, Google

Google Workspace for Education, free and secure tools
In 2006, we launched Google Workspace (then called Google Apps), a suite of fully online work and collaboration apps. Today, more than 170 million active users use Google Workspace for Education. This includes allowing students, teachers and parents to collaborate in real time, work offline and provide or receive feedback on their learning medium.
“The pandemic has taught us this: Teaching will never be the same again! Google Workspace tools have the ability to develop initiatives, empower students, enable them to cooperate and learn together’ – Thomas Dupuy, EPS teacher and digital project manager at Collège Saint Joseph (Le Mans)
Chromebooks, simple, secure and shareable devices
Teachers can also rely on Chromebooks, devices that start in less than 10 seconds. Powerful and flexible, these next-generation computers take advantage of Android and Linux applications to offer even more creativity. Simple to use and administer, they are loved by IT administrators because they can manage all of them from a web console without the need to physically access the devices. Parents, for their part, appreciate the focus on security, based on Chrome OS – the operating system – and the hardware itself.

Google Classroom, a centralized environment for teaching and learning
Finally, Classroom, our solution exclusively for education, which is part of the Google Workspace Suite for Education, was specifically designed to help teachers perform time-consuming tasks, such as collecting homework and scoring questionnaires. Thus, teachers have more time to teach and students have more time to learn.
The Google for Education team is delighted to help schools and universities. If you would like to know more, please do not hesitate to join us at our plenary on Friday, November 26th at 12:15 pm, at the Educatec Educatice fair.
