It's pretty. Very handsome even. Google has just launched a project that allows you to see more than 100 000 stars from your computer screen.

Google continues to aim for disproportionate objectives. After mapping the planet and photographing meters by meters the streets of most large and medium-sized cities, Mountain View Giant tackles the Milky Way. This experimental project is based on the Chrome browser developed by the company. It is carried out in close collaboration with engineers from NASA and the European Space Agency.

You'll be able to navigate quite smoothly on the Milky Way. Impressive.  You can zoom in on the most important stars and browse through a compilation of known data for each of them. Reliable data provided by NASA and EUROPEA.

The navigation is done with the end of the mouse, but you can opt for an automatic presentation to discover without having to look for them the most remarkable stars.

In the classroom.

This is an open window on the space that should Allow your students to gain height 🙂
A beautiful online resource rather reserved for young people from high school and beyond to all those who are passionate about the space.  The data is provided in English and ergonomics requires a real effort of understanding to take charge. Efforts rewarded by the amazing quality of the data provided.
100,000 stars only works on the Chrome browser. To travel in the stars, it is here.
