If you are a history or geography teacher or just a lover of old maps, here are three online resources to find old historical maps.
Old Maps Online. This is my favorite on this list. Here is a search engine-style front door that will allow you to browse through dozens of libraries around the world to find the old map you are looking for. A playful graphical interface and well-thought-out ergonomics make it a good online tool. The use is simple. You start by defining on a world map the area you want to explore. Under this first global map, you have access to a time slider. You will be able to go back the years by dragging the cursor on the historical period that interests you. On the right then appear the historical maps available in the form of thumbnails. One click and you go directly to the map and to the site where it is located. That's great. Link: Old Maps Online
Historical Maps Work. Another interesting resource that would require a little graphic painting to refresh a somewhat old-fashioned interface. Nevertheless, this database offers a good amount of old maps about the United States and the world. It also offers access to interesting collections of sky and star maps and specialised directories. David Rumsey Map Collection. Rather focused on the United States and South America, this site also offers old historical maps of Europe, Asia and Africa. More than 43,000 cards are in his archive which is full of real little treasures. Link: David Rumsey Map Collection
