MaClasseTI. A new digital tool for math teaching and learning

Texas Instruments just revealed MaClasseTI.fr, a new digital platform dedicated to math education and science. This new digital tool further expands the ecosystem around the TI-83 Premium CE Python Edition and TI-82 Advanced Edition Python calculators.

Four digital tools in one for math teaching

MaClasseTI.fr is a set of four digital tools:

1. An online calculator, compatible with the TI-82 Advanced Edition Python and TI-83 Premium CE Edition Python calculators from Texas Instruments used in the classroom.
2. A Python editor, a digital extension of classroom work sessions. It is accessible without downloading, installation or activation, and facilitates the transition between blocks and texts.
3. Tutorials to prepare for exams, learn to program in Python, use the virtual calculator or revise the mathematical concepts of the courses for exams. Please note that they can be downloaded and printed in PDF format.
4. Classroom management space, an innovation in monitoring students’ progress. This virtual classroom allows teachers to focus on classes, while allowing them to get to know and follow their students better.

 

MaClasseTI enriches the digital offer for math teachers

Free of charge, accessible without a licence, for use from any device, its purpose is to accompany and support mathematics teachers and their students in the current and future teaching of mathematics.

The platform extends the use in high school of the two graphic calculators, TI-83 Premium CE Edition Python and TI-82 Advanced Edition Python. Intended primarily for homework, it allows students to carry out the activities proposed by the teacher. The latter can then consult them, manipulation after manipulation, to follow the correct understanding of the courses or, on the contrary, identify the moment when the student induces an error.

The teachers quickly adapted this tool, which they found ‘much more complete than a simple online emulator’. While MaClasseTI.fr was launched in mid-March, it is already used by around 100 mathematics teachers in France a month later.

A pedagogical platform for learning mathematics created by Texas Instruments …

In charge of partnerships and pedagogical support for Texas Instruments, Carlos Coelho testifies to the birth of the project: "The purpose of Texas Instruments is to help teachers of mathematics and science in their daily teaching practice. And we are of course at the side of the students to accompany them in their academic success. Hence the
design of a free tool, accessible on all devices, which can be used both in class and remotely as a complement to the calculator. »

A digital tool developed in partnership with the start-up Vittascience

The French start-up Vittascience, twice winner of the Edu-Up Prize, is led by Léo Briand. He comments: "After so many curriculum reforms and an ever-changing digital environment, it was necessary for Texas Instruments France to better support math teachers. At Vittascience, we also identified this need for support, so we naturally responded to their specifications, which I would describe as ambitious. With the digital expertise of Texas Instruments and Vittascience, the platform MaClasseTI.fr, unique of its kind, could be developed. »
