5 Chrome Extensions for Teachers

Last updated on 12 May 2026

The Chrome browser is the most used in the world. Last month nearly 40 % Internet users had chosen it to surf the web in front of Internet explorer, Firefox or Safari. Fast, robust, Chrome also offers a long series of extensions to optimise its use. Several of them are very practical for a teacher (or student).

Here is a list of 5 chrome extensions for teachers.

1 – Save to Google Drive

This extension for Chrome allows you to save images found on the web or full screenshots in your Google Drive. By clicking on the small icon, you will get a screenshot of the web page you are viewing that will be saved directly to your Drive. If you want to save a particular image, right-click on the image and choose from the ‘Save to Google Drive’ drop-down menu. Link: Save to Google Drive.

2 – Awesome Screenshot

This extension is also extremely convenient for taking screenshots very easily. I dedicated to him a full article on Tice Tools here. Awesome screenshot allows you to take screenshots and annotate them directly. Especially useful for making images ready to be integrated into your tutorials or courses. Link: Awesome Screenshot

3 – Split Screen

Not always very convenient to consult two web pages at the same time. We are always resizing the windows to move from one to the other and thus be able to see the content. Split Screen does this by perfectly dividing your browser screen in half and thus allowing you a kind of double navigation. Link: Split Screen

4 – Whitelist for Chrome

This extension for Chrome allows you to limit Internet browsing to a list of sites that you will indicate in a kind of whitelist.  Convenient for a classroom computer left at the disposal of students. By default, any site not on the list will not be searchable. Practical.

5 – Dot ePub

A very handy extension for Chrome if you own an e-book reader. Dot ePub makes it possible to transform any website into a great ebook in ePub format. Magical. By clicking on the extension icon, you create an epub on the fly, which can then be sent to your e-reader. Link: Dot ePub

And do you have any favorite extensions that you regularly use on Chrome?
