I have just read the book ‘Internet at school, get started!’ published by Retz.. I recommend it to you.
This handy little book of just under 200 pages, aimed at school teachers, is an excellent tool for all of you who want to start using the internet in your classroom.
The work written by Alexandre Acou and Katrin Acou-Bouaziz, respectively teacher and journalist, has the great merit of demystifying the digital revolution and the use of the Internet. The book speaks simple, speaks practical and speaks true avoiding the usual wooden language. Yes, there are gaps in the field of digital training for school teachers! Yes, there are gaps in the IT resources available to teachers on the ground in schools! But there are also simple ways to get around or try to get around these difficulties and get started. This is what ‘Internet at school, get started!’ is trying to demonstrate.
You don’t have to be a geek to find yourself there. The book addresses all the questions in simple language with concrete examples and practical tips to get started.
How do you choose your digital practices based on your personality and the skills you want to work with your students? How to learn digital? Or what equipment?
For this chapter on equipment alone, the book is a good investment. How to have the Internet in your classroom? How to manage disparities in computer equipment in schools, etc. The book provides simple answers, ideas for action.
The book also reviews with concrete examples the most popular ICT tools in class: Social networks, class blogs and ENT. Presentation, advantages and disadvantages, examples of use, ideas for using them. Just like the title of the book, everything is done here to inspire you to take action.
Practical, action-oriented, the book ends with a well-stocked chapter of annexes, again with practical documents that can be used very quickly. This ranges from an example of a Twitter charter to models of authorisation to be signed by parents or a few preparation sheets with examples of concrete educational uses of the Internet in the classroom.
A book you have understood that I recommend for those who want to take action in primary school. A kind of equivalent of Pedagogical kit for colleges that I presented here a few weeks ago.
I simply point out a small shell to the publisher. I did not see ToolsTice.com in the selection of links proposed by … 😉
More seriously, Katrin ACOU-BOUAZIZ and Alexandre ACOU have made the bet not only to simply answer the questions that can be asked before embarking on the adventure but also, arguably, the most important one. They managed to make you want to do it.

Thank you for this nice review, we are flattered! And sorry for the "shell" not due to the publisher but to the authors who had to make cornelian choices in sitography … 😉 The Facebook page of the book facebook.com/internet.ecole is also used for these additions! 🙂
