Cmap Tools is a software suite that allows to Easily create and share concept maps or mindmaps.
It is a complete and completely free tool for the world of education where the main flaw is that all orders are in English. For the rest, it should meet most needs.
If you have ever had the opportunity to use a mindmap tool, Cmap Tools will seem familiar to you. The main functions of this type of tool can be found in a fairly clear interface. Everything is done with the end of the mouse by simply dragging and dropping. Bulls, links, arrows, text, URL, images … The tool also has the advantage of characterising links. This actually enriches the produced map with links between words that take on meaning.
Cmap Tools helps to create simple or complex concept maps without much difficulty.
You can create as many concept maps as you want and access them from your dashboard. Each of them can be downloaded in several formats. More interestingly, the possibility to share your maps with other users of the suite. You can even design a mind map in collaborative mode with colleagues or students.
Cmap Tools comes in several formats and is one of its strengths. You can use it online (cloud version) via a simple browser, but you can also download it as software. For the most expert, it is also possible to install a server version. Windows, OsX and Linux versions are available. You can finally use it on your tablet, but only on iPad.
An already old tool that nevertheless continues to render good and loyal services when it comes to concept maps. It occupies a special place in the list of tools available for create mind maps.
A serious tool, albeit a bit austere, which for him is free and has the right integration of the different versions proposed to adapt to all needs.

CmapTools is translated to 15 languages. It defaults to the language of the operating system but the language can be changed through the Preferences panel (requires a restart to change the language).

It is 100% It is relevant to recall regularly the existence of Cmap as a free tool for Concept Maps. A small reminder of Mind Mapping, because either practice is used in specific situations. And can be complementary.
❒ The Conceptual Map (Cmap) is at the service of understanding, transmission, learning, when you touch the limits of language. We then need an overview in which to immerse ourselves, and then go into detail on parts of more complex concepts (external resources). Subjects relate to each other on a common logic of Subject -> Verb -> Complement forming a Concept (Example: Cmap -> Clarifie -> Complex Concepts). The key words are therefore: holistic, path, reduction, fluidity, …There is a general theme but no "Centre" unavoidable. Rigour in its formulation and freedom of movement according to the objective of discovery – achievement of each and their prior knowledge of the subject.
❒ The Mind Map is single-centered (in general) and clearly presents a hierarchy in ideas or concepts. The sequence order often follows a logic of action 1 -> 2 -> 3… (once the concepts are assimilated with the previous practice, so complex). The Mental Map is used to gather the ideas and information already present-acquired and to extend them, in a logic of enrichment and realization. Also to detect gaps – information gaps. It is more garnished in terms of visual grammar: pictos, colors, … images
The synthesis is a common point in the 2 practices.
