Camtasia is a software for Mac and PC that allows create and edit with great simplicity educational videos for your students.

You may remember the excellent SnagIt that I presented to you some time ago here to take your screenshots. Camtasia offered by the same publisher goes much further and offers a real all-in-one studio bringing together screen recorder and editor or if you prefer video editing tool.
Unlike most video editing software on the market, Camtasia is distinguished by a certain simplicity that puts the production of quality videos within everyone's reach. Editing, adding texts, animated transitions, backgrounds, … music everything is rather easy by simply dragging and dropping from a library of components integrated into the software that is always at your fingertips.

Camtasia allows you to record all or part of your screen by inserting a small window with your head and voice if you wish, but you can also import videos and clips from your computer. The software can also import still images and sounds of any kind. You can then easily juggle the different components. Cutting, adding, superimposing everything is quite playful with a preview window that allows you to see live the progress of your project and the result of adding this or that effect.
The software makes it easy to add introductions or conclusions at the beginning and end of a clip, text or image. The effects of transition and text animation are numerous and for some of them spectacular.

For educational use, Camtasia is ideal for creating tutorials, of course, from a screen shot, but you can go much further and start making complete videos combining still images, texts, video clips, audio comments. For example, you can give life to an old PowerPoint by importing the different slides and working directly in Camtasia titles and transitions.
Camtasia takes on board all the essential tools for create videos pedagogical with the possibility to use arrows, captions, shapes in your creations that will help you convey your message and explain a notion or concept. Among the many features I liked, there is also the possibility to insert quizzes directly into your videos.
A complete tool, ideal for the inverted class, that puts video creation and editing within the reach of almost everyone.
Camtasia edited by Techsmith runs on Macs and recent PCs. You can test the software for free for 30 days. After this period it will be necessary to proceed with the purchase. The license is 200 EUR. It is not nothing, a real investment, but the quality is there.
