Dictation.io is a good online service of voice recognition that will write fairly faithfully everything you will dictate to it.

It is a service that offers a rather minimalist interface and functions, but delivers on its promise. The one to offer you a virtual notepad that will take note of everything you will dictate. This tool is free and works directly on your browser. But be careful only on Chrome.

The main interest of Dictation is that it requires no installation, no registration of any kind, it nests directly in your browser. The tool activates with one click from its homepage. He will ask you for permission to use your microphone and then all you have to do is talk, Dictation will write for you.

Recognition is very good if you articulate well and that you were speaking at a normal pace in a "quiet" sound environment. You will see sentence after sentence your text appear on the screen on some sort of virtual draft notebook. You can always intervene directly on the document with a built-in word processor to correct any errors or to improve the formatting.

Dictation that relies on Google’s speech recognition technology accepts and understands dozens of languages. For each of them, you will have access to a list of specific commands that will tell you how to introduce punctuation marks, special characters or line returns by voice.

You need an internet connection to make voice recognition work, but your texts are not online, they remain stored in the cache memory of your browser. Once your text is finished, you are free to copy or retrieve it in text format or print it out. You can also have your text read aloud by the computer with one click, convert your text into a tweet or make it an email ready to be sent.

Dictation.io is free and can be convenient enough to take voice notes on the fly. It only suffers from a small flaw: the presence of advertisements that are a little too invasive to my liking.
