The 15 best online tools for teachers.

Last updated on 24 August 2023

Of course, beyond the somewhat catchy title (a fault attributed to half …), it is above all a question of list the online tools that I consider indispensable and remarkable for a teacher. Feel free to complete the list using your own tools and experience. The useful applications and services for a teacher are innumerable and The Tice Tools strives to make you discover new ones every day. Not all are indispensable far from it. This first list that I propose to you is part of the essentials in my opinion.

Google Drive: Google continues to establish itself as a major player in simple and effective online tools. The latest evolution of Google Docs adds free storage and sharing space to the various document creation tools.
Dropbox: The company has just announced more than 100 million users. A deserved success for this file backup and sharing tool that allows you to work in the clouds to adorn any type of fixed and mobile device.
Evernote: This is your memory and your organisational tool. Evernote remembers everything. Thanks to capture tools simple, you will be able to record and archive everything that is important. Evernote then offers a very powerful search engine to find information in your notes at the speed of light. The possibility to search even in the text that can appear in an image always impresses me as much. Computer, smartphone, tablet, Evernote works everywhere. The latest version (V5) that has just been released for your computer is a must for flexibility and efficiency.
Prezi: It was the slide-creation system that gave the indescribable Powerpoint a big blow. Prezi allows you to create stunning presentations with simple interactive tools. The result is simply amazing.

Jumpshare (viewed on allweb2): Here is an online service to share in two clicks a document or file online. Your document will remain available for 15 days before it is deleted. The real plus ? the possibility of viewing the document before possibly downloading it.

CloudMagic: It is great to archive files and documents all over your computer and on a variety of online services. We still need to be able to find them. CloudMagic does this by scanning your gmail, Twitter, Facebook, Evernote and many others at light speed. CloudMagic is an extension for your browser. The service also offers apps for iOs and Android. A must.

Text2MindMap: A tool to create heuristic maps from a small text editor and an interactive spreadsheet. Very simple to use.

Slideshare: A must when it comes to creating and sharing presentations or slides. Slideshare offers storage of your slides and a reproachless visualization tool. Another interesting function is a space dedicated to comments.

Pub

Loopster: Videos are becoming more and more present in the classroom. Loopster is a small online video editing tool that is simple, free and pretty damn good.

Moodle: How not to integrate the free platform for elearning. Ownership is not always easy, but the user community is very rich. A community always ready to help and constantly improving the tool.

Scoop.it y Paper.li: The two essentials of content curation on the Web. for you and for your students. . The .

Zamzar: A powerful Swiss knife to convert all your files. You can juggle a multitude of different formats: documents, images, videos, music, ebooks, etc …

For me, Pearltrees is a must: a web page organizer. You can classify them into folders/subfolders and share all or part of them with others, or even team up to edit the same pearltree. A great collaborative tool.

I think Edmodo would have quite a place on this list. I am also surprised that it appears very rarely in French-language publications on CTBTs. Thank you for letting me discover Socrative that I did not know.

You can add to this list ‘Delicious’ a tool that allows online indexing by means of personal keywords and allows access to other users’ keywords and ‘Diigo’ a socialbookmarking tool that consists of indexing resources in an online space, and sharing its library with other users. Thank you for your collaboration.

but it is good to have made this list, I am sure it will serve a lot of young colleagues.
