Europeana is an awakened dream for all art lovers. Imagine rather this site will allow you by pushing the door of a click to access a huge and grandiose collection with over 58 million works, objects, books, videos and sounds from over 3600 European institutions. A free resource, without advertising, accessible in 27 languages, including French, and which is constantly being enriched. It's all happiness.

Europeana is a project of the European Community. A beautiful project. A kind of common house to make accessible all the riches of hundreds of museums and libraries in the different countries of the European Community. Objective: to share the continent’s cultural heritage for the purposes of education, research or for the simple pleasure of a curious audience.

A richer and more connected cultural platform
In 2025, Europeana has consolidated its role as a museum of museums, facilitating access to Europe’s digital heritage. More than 3 000 European cultural institutions have united their heritage for exhibit their collection on the canvas. Even if most of these institutions and especially the largest ones have their own Online Museums, Europeana further opens the door to an infinitely rich heritage.
The offer is no longer focused solely on consulting works: the platform now offers 3D images, redesigned thematic collections, and new partnerships with the responsible and sustainable tourism sector.

To support education, Europeana continues to expand its partnership with eTwinning and offers a dedicated ‘Discover Europe’ section: a real virtual journey across the continent, designed to inspire educational projects and promote cultural diversity in new interactive formats.
A powerful search engine and thematic routes
To find yourself in this cave of Ali Baba, the site offers a powerful fast and efficient search engine combined with a system of smart filters to help you find your needle in this gigantic collection of works.

Do not miss the "room" of old maps or the part of the site dedicated to newspapers which alone deserves the detour and will provide you with ideas and resources for all your educational projects.
The already powerful internal search engine has been equipped with advanced filters, making it easier to navigate an ever-growing collection. The interface now combines text search, visual search and localization via the Culturalgems app: an interactive map that allows you to discover the main cultural points of interest in Europe, enriched by local contributions and Creative Commons initiatives.
For Teachers: Pedagogical Resources, Scenarios and an Entire Community

The project "Teaching with Europeana" now accompanies the main portal. It offers lesson plans, updated pedagogical scenarios and an international community of teachers, with many resources categorised by subject, level and language. The blog evolves and integrates artificial intelligence to facilitate the creation of interactive pathways around historical and artistic documents, and the Francophone section is regularly enriched with feedback from teachers across Europe.
Go for a ride in Europeana’s classroom to discover hundreds of resources specially sorted for teachers.
Collaborative and interactive: Europeana is also a hub for cultural mediation
Since 2025, Europeana has been increasing collaborations and promoting interactivity on a large scale. The platform now offers, throughout the year, virtual stands for temporary exhibitions, online workshops and a free conference programme, accessible to all audiences.
These immersive spaces are designed to stimulate exchanges between institutions, teachers, mission leaders and cultural actors, promoting the co-creation of heritage content and participatory discovery.
Europeana, a living space at the service of all curiosities
Like the eTwinning Project, Europeana is a great way to make the idea of a European exchange space more concrete.
A great idea and a good place to find useful supports or just to wander around and get lost for all art lovers.
Europeana is a completely free and ad-free site.
