Plastic Tracker is a particularly interesting online interactive map that makes it possible to follow the path of plastic waste thrown into the sea. We know the ecological importance and the damage caused by the overbidding of plastic packaging of all kinds generated by our consumption patterns.

Plastic Tracker is a good awareness-raising tool to visualise and become aware of this major threat to the balance of the planet.
The great journey of plastic waste in the sea
The Ocean Cleanup project has unveiled a very impressive new interactive map that helps us to know the details of the journey that plastics make from the moment we throw them in the trash until they reach the oceans, a sad journey that creates entire islands of plastic floating around the planet.
Simply mark its position on the Plastic Tracker map for the calculation of the journey to start. The platform will assess the chances that a piece of plastic left at your location will reach the ocean. It will also map the route that plastic is likely to follow once in the water.
Track the journey of plastic and its duration on an interactive map
Plastic Tracker will tell you if the probability of your waste arriving at sea is low, medium or high. It will also tell you the time of the trip and the distance travelled. The result is very well done. The route will gradually be drawn up on the map. The tool shows the route by including variables related to river flow, mouthwater emissions and ocean currents. A long journey that will last several years before ending most of the time in gigantic plastic islands listed on the world map.
The story of the bottle thrown into the sea, but less poetic. An interactive map with a single objective: Contribute to raising awareness of plastic waste issues and help clean up plastic in our oceans.
