A more serene and moderated digital environment and an alternative to Twitter.

Bluesky: the origins of a different social network

Launched in 2023 by Twitter creator Jack Dorsey, Bluesky is not just a clone of its predecessor. This new platform is reinventing the way we trade online, with a focus on transparency and user control.

A birth linked to Twitter, but a unique identity

Bluesky was originally an internal Twitter project to create a more open social network. Having become independent, it has developed into a credible alternative, particularly appreciated by teachers and education professionals. Its development is accelerating in parallel with Twitter’s mistakes. More than one million new entrants arrive every day under the ‘blue sky’.

Decentralization as a founding principle

What sets Bluesky apart from other social networks is its decentralised architecture. Specifically, for teachers, this means:

An open and transparent network

Philosophy open source Bluesky guarantees full transparency. The code is accessible to everyone and can be verified by the community. This approach particularly reassures teachers concerned about data protection and digital ethics.

Remember: Bluesky combines the experience of the founders of Twitter before Musk with an ethical and transparent approach to the social network. Its rapid growth reflects users’ interest in a healthier digital space.

Effective protection against unwanted interactions

Customizable moderation

The moderation settings make it possible to refine your experience:

  • Filtering sensitive keywords
  • Automatic masking of certain types of content
  • Control of possible interactions with your profile

The strength of the collective

Hello, I do not think your article raises an important point, before referring teachers or others to this umpteenth social network: what is its long-term economic model? We know that Twitter, already, struggled to find and be profitable, we see where this led this platform became X. Should we not learn some lessons, at least encourage caution?

This current gratuity suggests that … won’t be able to last very long, and that sooner or later there will be advertising, subscription options or whatever, whose ‘free’ side of BS won’t protect us. Not sure, therefore, with the unknowns of the moment, that this is really ‘the right time to get on board’, if not from one foot to the maximum.
