Gutenberg. More than 50,000 ebooks to download for free
Project Gutenberg offers no less than 54,000 free e-books. You can choose between ePub, Kindle, download or online reading. Here you will find all the great classics of world literature, with all the books now royalty-free. The Gutenberg project digitised them and carefully checked them, with the help of thousands of volunteers. The site offers a new version since this summer, clearer, more modern. That's great.

Wikisource
Many of you have reported Wikisource to me. You did well. You can find no less than 300,000 texts and you can even contribute to publishing them in digital format. Wikisource, is a library project supported by the Wikimedia Foundation. It is animated, maintained and developed by volunteer contributors.

5000 Classics in ePub format to download
Several thousand books in EPUB format are available for free download in Gallica de la BNF. Gallica’s blog also lists 150 EPUBs selected by the Ministry of Education.

958 free ebooks from the French Digital Library
Swiss ebooks. This site offers you the digital books of the Bibliothèque numérique romande and its partners: 958 ebooks in all. Main area: French-speaking Swiss literature and, without a regionalist spirit, neighbouring regions – France, Switzerland or elsewhere. These books are available for free download but for non-commercial use.

Catalogue of French-language public domain e-books
A good idea. It is a search engine that allows you to search for a book in the French-speaking public domain, which is available free of charge. The works have a minimum of quality, the sources are serious.

Lirtuel gives you 1 month of free access. (for our Belgian friends) The digital lending platform of the public libraries of Wallonia and Brussels asks you to register for free online. Quick and simplified registration. Your account will be validated in 24 hours max. You can therefore borrow up to 8 e-books at the same time in a nice catalogue that offers all the latest news in ebook format.
TV5 World Digital Library
The shelves of TV5 Monde are not infinite but the librarians have made a nice selection. 578 ebooks to download free. Classics of French literature, available free of charge at the click of a button. Look at the screen or read on your tablet or e-reader. A search engine allows you to search this large pile of books by name of the book, by author, by genre …

Free books to download from La Découverte
The editions of La Découverte offer a choice of quality free e-books and …circonstance. Half a dozen ebooks are available on the publisher’s website, including Paul Lafargue’s ‘Le Droit à la la lazesse’ and ‘Home. An odyssey of the online domestic space’, an astonishing essay by Mona Chollet.

Free books to download at Fnac, Cultura, Chapite, Le Furet du Nord
Large booksellers offer several thousand free ebooks to download directly to your computer or e-reader. Good and at least good but also some beautiful pearls.
Attention these links are to be used by adults. Some online booksellers have grouped in their free offer books that are not intended for children.

12,000 children's stories in all languages
Storyweaver that I had the opportunity to present here on Tools TICE is a platform that offers thousands of stories for children to read online or download in many languages. All of these books are available under Creative Commons Free License. On computer or tablet, Storyweaver offers many illustrated albums for children. An endless collection of open source stories for children.

A nice library proposed by MAIF and the publisher Rue des Écoles. Stories, fables, tales and legends, several dozen small illustrated books to read alone or to be read. Remember to click on "See More" at the end of each story. You will have access to hidden bonuses, including the ability to listen to the story or make some pretty cool online games.

Sites to listen to audiobooks for free
Another way to dive into a book. The supply of audiobooks is increasing. For the great classics of literature no need to pay. Thousands of books of modern art
The major American museums offer free access to their publications and exhibition catalogues. A very rich collection. I have published on Allweb2.com three collections of almost a thousand books of modern art and catalogues of major exhibitions. They're all free. They can be viewed online or downloaded in different formats. It's all happiness.

Coloring pages at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France
Beautiful collection of coloring pages and coloring albums. They are classified thematically: abécédaires, animals, circus, tales, imagiers, games, means of transport, landscapes, plants … Indispensable BNF.
